The Upper Primary stage focuses on building a strong academic foundation while continuing to nurture personal and social growth. The Victorian Curriculum Framework supports students to work at individual and differentiated levels to build on prior learning and experiences.
At this stage students access a diverse breadth of exciting learning experiences that are both explicitly taught, and inquiry-based, covering a wide range of subjects, areas and topics. This exposes students to opportunities to build new interests and preferences within and beyond the classroom.
Personal and Social learning is taught through structured lessons and play. The emphasis is to build resilience, a growing awareness of others as well as their self-identity. Students build their ability to collaborate within and beyond their classroom community. Staff model inclusivity and respect in social interactions, which are essential for successful relationships and a sense of belonging.
The Upper Primary years are pivotal for academic, personal, and social development. A comprehensive approach focusing on key academic areas, increasing independence, and providing engaging community experiences to create confident learners.
